First we sanded all the cabinents (which sadly I didn't get a picture of because it was a mess!) then we primed them and painted them white. (Thanks Whitney for the helpful tips)

We finished the cupboards in perfect timing for my dad to come down and visit us and by visit us, I mean we put him to work. We changed the nasty fake bamboo floor to a nice dark hard wood.
(The picture in the top left compares the old bamboo to the new floor)
All of our hard work payed off, below is the finished product and to top it off we even hung stuff on the walls so it looks like people actually live here, all we're missing is a house plant to make it our home :)
